What is Red Yeast Rice

Red yeast rice, is a rice fermented with Monascus spp., resulting in a deep red color. It is a natural food additive commonly used as a food coloring and brewing ingredient in Chinese cuisine, such as in dishes like fermented red bean curd, red yeast rice wine and lees. During the fermentation process, red yeast rice produces a compound called monacolin K, which works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase with reducing cholesterol synthesis. Red yeast rice also promotes blood circulation by accelerating the removal of waste from blood vessels, thereby maintaining cardiovascular health.

Coenzyme Q10 is abundant in organs with high energy demands, such as the heart and liver. It plays a role in cellular energy conversion and metabolism. The antioxidant properties of coenzyme Q10 help reduce damage and aging caused by free radicals in heart and blood vessel cells, thereby protecting the cardiovascular system.
